ever thought about how much fun it would be to plan a party with someone
else's money? Well, this is your chance! In Spanish-speaking countries,
girls celebrate a "coming of age" party called a quinceañera.
This is a huge party that represents a girl's transition from childhood to
womanhood and is a major event in her life.
Mr. and Mrs. Garcia (a rather wealthy Mexican couple) have selected your event planning company to host an extravagant quinceañera party for their daughter, Gabriela. They want you to spend no more than $50,000 on this event, but you must include everything (even the dress and their gift to Gabriela). You should estimate that there will be about 100 people attending (including Gabriela and her parents). The event will take place in Schuylkill County.
Each of you will play a specific role in the planning of this very special event. Together with your group members you must present your plans for the quinceañera through any media you choose (PowerPoint, Publisher, Web Page, poster, etc.) along with a budget, which you should create in Excel (remember you cannot exceed $50,000!) and an invitation, written in Spanish. You should use the example on p. 238 of your book as a model.
